About Event

Biomaterials are the forefront of new technologies in orthopedic and dentistry applications including emerging metals, ceramics, poly-mers, composites and adhesive both in preventive and restorative treatment. There are numerous reasons that may be care tooth such as dental caries and periodontal diseases. Replacement of missing tooth structures with dental restrictive materials a necessary part of appearance and function. Appropriate selection of the implant bio-material is a key factor for long term success of implants. The biologic environment does not accept completely any material due to biocom-patibility. It is necessary to select proper implants to reduce the nega-tive biologic response while maintaining adequate function. Every clinician should always gain a thorough knowledge about the different biomaterials used for the dental implants. This seminar provides an opportunity for the medical and dental communities to expose new implant materials, surface techniques and Finite Element Analysis (FEA).
FEA is a commonly used tool to evaluate biomechanics of tradi-tional dental implants, a detailed three-dimensional models helps to understand the mechanical behavior of teeth structures in better fash-ion. Hence, there have been efforts to represent different teeth with 3-dimensional approach using FEA tools. Also the material research-ers and engineers will be able to learn about the clinical application of orthopedic and dental materials which is suitable to patient needs.

OBJECTIVE OF THE SEMINAR
This seminar will be focused to provide a platform for material engineers, researchers and clinicians to:
• Equip with a deep understanding on the field of dental/orthopedic materials and knowledge necessary to participate in research or product development.
• Concentrate the major classes of materials used in dentistry
• Understand the behavior of mechanical (hardness, tensile, toughness, brittleness, ductility and malleability), physical and chemical properties of dental materials
• Update their knowledge in the latest development in dental materials.
• Use FEM tool for predicting the biomechanical stress on an im-plant and stress distribution in the contact area between implant walls and cortical bone.

Hotel Accommodation at Erode and Tiruchengode may be arranged by the Organizers on request by pay-ment basis. However limited accommodation on payment basis (Rs.200/- per day) is available in the Girls and Boys hostel on first come first serve basis.
